Something 'Fishy' about this Pedicure
Well now this is certainly what we call a spa treatment with a difference. Although I havent personally tried this yet I have heard such good reports that I fully intend on booking in for a trial. My initial reservations of having a basin full of tiny fish nibbling at my tootsies were completely quelled by the various observations that apparently this is all extremely relaxing - apart from also having an impressive list of benefits. The fishy pedicure is rapidly growing in popularity and has some celebrity fans including popstress Little Boots, who are lining up to try this hot new beauty trend.
So, just in time for sandal season, if you’ve been hiding your toes in winter boots and thermal socks for the past few months then why not treat them to this fish pedicure at Margarita Beauty Salon in Dublin’s Sutton Cross.
About: Originating in the pools of a hot spring near Kangal, a small town in Turkey, the Fish Pedicure involves placing feet in a warm water pool of Garra Rufa fish or Doctor Fish, as they are commonly known. The 125 specially selected fish begin to investigate, seeking out and removing dead skin, bacteria and calluses while rejuvenating healthy skin. As the fish have no teeth they act as a stimulating and relaxing massage running their little suction cup mouths across the feet and toes.
