Thinking Green? Eco Fashion Goes Online

As the world around us changes at such a fast pace, it is no wonder that people are becoming more ecologically aware and fashion trends are no different. The term covering these trends is “Eco Fashion”. Basically, eco fashion is fashion that uses organic raw materials, such as cotton grown without pesticides and silk made by worms fed on organic trees; that doesn't involve the use of harmful chemicals and bleaches to colour fabrics; that is often made from recycled and reused textiles. Generally you are talking about high-quality garments which can be made from second-hand clothes and even recycled plastic bottles; fashion that is made to last, so that people keep them for longer and fashion that comes from fair trade i.e. the people who make them are paid a fair price  and have decent working conditions.
Up until now good intentions were plentiful but perhaps a little a lost because the eco-fashion area is so vast and also somewhat different and new – but luckily, a new site,  CleanEnergyFashion.com has just been launched to pull together all this information about various other eco brands and sites, in one place and help us all track those eco-fashion trends!

"What's unique about eco-fashionability, is that it gets noticed and remembered far better than brands and labels. A young man wearing a sweatshirt with solar panels that are charging his cell phone is going to be noticed and remembered far better than some guy wearing high end label shoes that are twice the price. This has a serious impact on the success of eco fashion." Says Kathy Beyer-Conrad, Spokeswoman at the CEC.
